QS-8120-P01 IQ Hardwire Translator™
Hardwire-to-Qolsys Wireless Translator™
Features
•
Converts hardwire zones into Qolsys-compatible wireless signals.
•
8 Hardwire loops with end-of-line resistor detection.
•
Unique wireless ID for each zone, plus 1 for main device.
•
Transmit diversity for long reliable range.
•
PIR/Glassbreak powering (via external supply).
•
3 year operation on batteries (monitoring contacts only).
•
Complete supervision of zone tampers and low battery.
Key Instructions
•
DO NOT MOUNT IN A METAL CAN.
•
Use with normally closed contacts in-line with 4.7 K-ohms resistors (mandatory).
•
Not for use with life safety devices, such as Smoke or CO sensors.
•
External supply requirements:
Contacts-only installations may use wall plug power supply (see specifications)
Installations with PIRs or Glassbreaks (powered devices) require battery-
backed external power supply (see diagram).
Without backed-up power, PIRs or Glass Breaks could alarm when
power is lost.
Translator AA batteries drive contacts only, and do not drive
powered devices.
Ensure that external supply has sufficient current to supply all
powered devices including Translator.
4-wire powered devices only. Not for use with 2-wire powered
devices.
If using old panel as the battery-backed 12V DC supply, verify supply
and battery operation. DO NOT MOUNT TRANSLATOR IN OLD CAN… the
wireless will not get out!
Installation
•
Hook up PIR and Glass Break power lines to external power supply.
•
Alarm contact hook-up:
Works only with normally-closed contacts (alarm = open).
Remove any existing end-of-line resistors.
Connect 4.7K end-of-line resistor (included) IN-LINE with contact.
Resistor should NOT be across (between) terminals.
•
Enrollment:
Put Qolsys Panel in Add Sensor mode.
Each zone:
•
Select the behaviors you want the sensor to have.
•
When panel asks to “Trip Sensor”, short (tamper) each loop
to enroll it. You can use a piece of wire or needle nose
pliers between the terminal screws.
Translator itself (necessary to monitor the Translator’s health):
•
Select Translator Group 13.
•
When panel asks to “Trip Sensor”, trip the Translator tamper.
