Using a Network Interface

Using a LocalTalk Interface
Connecting to the LocalTalk port involves three basic steps: assem-
bling the proper interface cabling (use a LocalTalk-type kit such as
Farallon's PhoneNET, available from your QMS vendor), making the
connection, and making sure the necessary printing files are installed
on the Macintosh.
The LocalTalk port is used to print if
n Your host is any member of the Apple Macintosh family. The
instructions in this chapter explain how to connect a Macintosh to
the QMS 1725E Print System.
n Your host is an IBM PC or compatible microcomputer, worksta-
tion, minicomputer, or mainframe computer that connects through
a print network (such as TOPS or AppleShare) using LocalTalk-
type connectors and boxes.
If youre connecting to one of these hosts, you may need addi-
tional hardware or software. See your host or network documen-
tation for details specific to your setup.
