6.5 Ports 9/10/11 (J7A/J7C/J7D): RS-422
6.5.1 Introduction
There are three available front panel RS-422 ports. These are intended for use as
“backbone” ports for communication with the QEI eXP-9430 Comm Port Expander module, and
various future QEI I/O interface modules. Each RS-422 port has differential RX and TX data
signals, and the maximum bit rate of the RS-422 data signals is up to 4 megabits/sec. Actual
throughput will be less, depending on software load. There is termination of the receive end of
each signal. These ports are only intended to be used as links between QEI products when
sending high speed RS-422/RS-485 traffic.
