7. Press down on the latches to guide the RTM the rest of the way into the slot and lock it into place. You
will hear a click as the latches are closed and the RTM is set into place.
8. After insertion, tighten the captive screws on the latches.
9. Position the rear filler panel over the upper slot and secure the captive screws.
Upgrading an 8-Port Version to a 16-Port Version
In order to upgrade an 8-port version to a 16-port version, you must purchase the following
from Performance Technologies:
•
a second CPC358
•
a second 8-port RTM358
•
an Ethernet crossover cable
•
the proper software

Configuring and Installing the CPC358s
After receiving the second CPC358 and the 8-port RTM358, use the following steps to
configure and install both cards.
Follow these steps to configure the CPC358:
1. Remove the filler panel on the front of the MPS1000 by unscrewing the captive screws.
2. Remove the existing CPC358 following the steps described in
“Removing a CPC358,” on page 37
.
3. Inspect the second CPC358. If it is new, it may come with protective plastic covers on the latches’
captive screws. These will need to be removed before the card can be installed.
Note: It is important to remember if you are updating an 8-port MPS1000 to a 16-port
MPS1000, the SW1 switch on both CPC358s must be set properly for the running
conditions of the MPS1000. Further information on setting SW1 can be found on

Closed (ON)
position on both the new CPC358 and on the existing
CPC358 in the MPS1000.

Installing the RTM358
Adding an additional CPC358 to an 8-port MPS1000 during the conversion to 16-port requires
the addition of the corresponding RTM358 for the second CPC358. The steps for adding the
second RTM are as follows:
Follow these steps to insert an RTM358 into an MPS1000:
1. Inspect the 8-port RTM358. If it is new, it may come with protective plastic covers on the latches’
captive screws. These will need to be removed before the card can be installed.
2. Remove the empty filler panel on the rear of the MPS1000 chassis by unscrewing the captive screws.
