14.4 Detection area
The detection area of LMA/B is determined by the optic and becomes larger according to the distance.
The detection area has the shape of an ellipse.

14.5 Object dimension
The smallest object which can still be detected depends on the dimension of the detection area.
To achieve correct measurement, the detection area must be fully covered by the object during the
measurement process.
14.6 Cooling jacket
Proxitron LMA/B sensors can be fitted with a cooling housing. With a flow rate of cooling water of 1
l/min (alternatively approx. 50 l/min of air) at temperature < 30°C, a maximum ambient temperature of
200°C is permissible. The maximum operating pressure is around 5 bar.
14.7 Air blow connection
PROXITRON sensors can be provided with an
additional air connection to protect the optics from
contamination. The recommended operating
pressure is 0,15 bar, which corresponds to a
consumption of 60 l/min. The max operating
pressure is around 0,3 bar. The scavenging air
must be oil-free, dry and dust-free, to prevent
contamination of the optic. Additional protection
tube OL 37 or OL 38 is recommended to optimize
air blow effectiveness.
14.8 Laser pilot light unit
The integrated LASER pilot light allows precise alignment of the Proxitron laser measurement
sensors on the target. The light point of the Laser unit shows approximately the centre of the optical
axis. Laser pilot light will be visible in the measurement
mode “
continuous measurement
”. If the
“Trigger” mode has been selected, the light will be visible only during measurement.
14.9 Accessories
A large number of accessories are available for various fields of application. Accessories are parts that
can be ordered at any time and installed on site, e.g.:
