Operating a Gateway via Router
If the connection between the hardware units of the Forum 5004/5008/
5012 communications system is operated via a router, automatic
configuration is not available. This is why you have to manually set the IP
configuration for the gateways for the first-time commissioning. A hardware
unit offers a minimum web console for doing so in the “Gateway” operation
mode. Shortly after starting, this can be addressed via the fixed IP address
192.168.99.253.
1.
Switch the hardware unit installation switch to the “1 / Gateway general”
position. If you activate the power supply later on for the hardware unit,
you can address the web console of the gateway as long as the LED 4 is
flashing red.
2.
If you wish to configure multiple gateways, avoid an IP address conflict as
all gateways can be addressed under the same IP address shortly after
starting. The following approaches are conceivable:
– Single port: Using an Ethernet line, establish a direct connection
between the PC Ethernet port and the gateway Ethernet port. This avoids
potential address conflicts.
– Connection via switch/company LAN: The PC and a gateway can also be
indirectly connected via a switch or to the company LAN. Only switch on
the respective gateway you wish to configure.
– Simultaneous connection via switch/company LAN: The PC and the
gateways operated simultaneously on the LAN can also communicate if
there is an IP address conflict. You have to manually assign the MAC
address of the desired gateway on the PC.
3.
In order to be able to start the web interface of the gateway with a PC
browser, the PC requires a suitable IP address configuration. Under
Windows you have to log on as administrator and execute the following
steps.
