3.5 Selecting Objectives and Focusing
Selecting Objectives
To select a different magnification:
Procedure
1
Rotate the objective nosepiece until the objective with the desired
magnification is at the front.
Ensure the nosepiece is rotated to a click-stop position.
Ensure the sample is sufficiently far below the objective that they do not
collide.

For Primotech D/A POL and Primotech D/POL Conoscopy, ensure the objective
is centered.

Focusing
To focus the sample:

The eyepieces have been adjusted [
Procedure
1
Select the lowest magnification (e.g. 5 x).

Look through the eyepieces and turn the focus wheel to raise or lower the
stage until the sample is in focus.
Ensure that the stage does not collide with the objective during focusing.
– Turn the larger wheel for coarse focus
