7-17 Gate Assembly (Refer to Figure 7- 4)
Step 1.
Open the take-up cassette and supply cassette door.
Step 2.
Remove the rear access panel. Refer to 7-1.

Step 3.
Locate the gate cable connections. (Gates which have a punch option
installed will have an additional cable connector and ground wire for the punch
motor/home switch cable.
If the gate assembly being replaced does not have a punch skip
step 4.
Step 4.
Disconnect the punch motor/home switch cable connector and ground wire.
Step 5.
Disconnect the media out switch cable connector and ground wire.
Step 6.
Remove plastic tie wrap(s) or cable clamp from the cable guard.
Step 7.
Loosen the set screws that secure the gate registration pin (right side) and
the gate retaining pin (left side).
Step 8.
While holding gate securely, open latches and slide gate assembly side to
slide to dislodge (registration and retaining) pins. Once the pins are
displaced, remove gate assembly without damaging cables.
Step 9.
Put the replacement gate assembly into position.
Step 10.
Assemble registration pin with the head flush to the base casting surface. Secure
registration pin set screw. Slide right end plate of gate assembly onto pin.
Step 11.
Use retaining pin to position gate assembly against registration pin and lock in
place using retaining pin set screw.
Step 12.
Make certain gate pivots freely with no side to side movement.
If new gate does not have a punch, skip step 13.
Step 13.
Connect the punch motor/home switch cable to main harness.
Step 14.
Reconnect the media out switch cable to main harness.
Step 15.
Secure media out switch and punch motor (if installed) ground wires to upper
gearbox mounting screw.
Step 16.
Use a plastic tie wrap or cable clamp to secure the gate cables to cable guard.
Step 17.
Before replacing rear access panel, utilize the manual feed switch to verify media
will move through media transport properly. If a punch system is installed, run the
