Air filter maintenance
10.3.1
Cleaning the air filter
Clean and re-oil the air filter according to the maintenance schedule. It is an important item to
maintain. Failure to maintain the air filter properly can result in poor performance or can cause
permanent damage to the engine.
1.
Unscrew the knob on the left side of the cover. Swing the cover out. Open the air filter
cover.
2.
Remove the air filter.
3.
Wash the filter in detergent and water. Rinse the filter thoroughly and allow it to dry.
4.
Apply enough clean SAE 30 motor oil to lightly coat the filter.
5.
Squeeze the filter to spread and remove excess oil.
6.
Replace the filter
Note: operating the unit without the air filter, will VOID the warranty.
7.
Make sure the back plate is correctly positioned.
8.
Swing the air filter cover closed and tighten the knob.
10.4
Replacing the spark plug
Warning: do not sand blast, scrape or clean spark plug electrodes.
Remainders/particles left in the engine could damage the cylinder.
1.
After using 25 hours, take off the spark plug, remove dirt and carbon deposition with a
steel brush. The spark plug gap should be 0.6-0.8 mm (see below).
2.
Replace or clean the spark plug, confirm the surroundings of the spark plug is clean.
3.
Do not clean spark plug with sand blast, but rather clean with a steel brush or in a carbon
remover solvent
4.
Please use the recommended type when exchanging the spark plug.
5.
When assembling the spark plug, turn it tight manually, then use a special spark plug
spanner to tighten.
Tightening torque: 15.3-22.4 Nm.
Note: it will damage the cylinder and piston if the fit is too tight
