Malfunctions and Diagnostics
ELD devices are required to log and notify the user when there is a compliance malfunction or a
data diagnostic function. On the LV9000 if a malfunction is present, a red triangle with an ‘M’ in
the middle will display in the upper right corner of the screen. If a
data diagnostic error occu
rs, an orange triangle with a ‘D’ in the
middle will be visible. To view details about the issue:
1. Touch ELD on the screen
2. Touch ELD on the top tabs.
3. Touch Info on the bottom menu
4. You will see the information on the ELD tab
Malfunction definitions
Code Malfunction Cause Resolution
E Engine Sync
Malfunction Missing data from the ECU for
at least 30 minutes over a 24-
hour period. • Check connection to the Canbus (ECU)
• Check that the LV9000 is always
powered before driving.
•
Contact carrier; revert to paper logs.
L Position Sync
Malfunction The vehicle has been driven for
too long without a GPS fix.
•
Check the GPS antenna (malfunction
should clear once a fix is obtained).
• Contact carrier; revert to paper logs.
O Other ELD
Malfunction Generic malfunction
•
Contact carrier; revert to paper logs.
P Power
Malfunction The events in a 24-hour period.
Vehicle has been driven for 30
minutes without creating
driving records.
•
Check connection to the Canbus (ECU)
•
Check that the LV9000 is always
powered before driving
• Contact carrier; revert to paper logs.
R Data
Recording
Malfunction The LV9000 cannot record
anymore ELD events
•
Internal fault has occurred in the
LV9000. Return the device for service.
• Contact carrier; revert to paper logs.
S Data Transfer
Malfunction The LV9000 has failed to
contact the FMCSA too many
times to test the remote
inspection connection. • Check the connection to the internet.
• If you cannot get a fix, Contact carrier;
revert to paper logs.
T Timing Sync
Malfunction Failed to sync the clock with
either the server, or GPS for
too long, and it is possible that
the clock may not be correct.
•
Check the connection to the internet
and GPS antenna (malfunction should
clear once a valid fix is obtained).
•
If you cannot get a fix, Contact carrier;
revert to paper logs.
