IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 

WARNING! Read and understand all instructions before 

using the product. The operator must follow basic 

precautions to reduce the risk of personal injury and / or 

damage to the equipment. Before allowing someone else 

to use the product, make sure they are aware of all  

safety information.

Common sense and caution are factors that cannot be 

built into this product, but must be supplied by  

the operator.

NOTE: Keep this manual for the safety warnings, 

precautions and operating, inspection and  

maintenance instructions.

PERSONAL SAFETY

1. 

Dress properly by wearing protective 

equipment. Use foot, hand and head protection. 

Always wear ANSI approved impact safety 

goggles, which must provide both frontal 

and side protection. Protect your hands with 

suitable gloves. Protect your head from falling 

objects by wearing a hard hat. Protective, 

electrically non-conductive clothes and non-skid 

footwear are recommended when working. 

Wear steel-toed boots to prevent injury from 

falling objects.

2. 

Do not over reach; keep proper footing and 

balance at all times. Proper footing and  

balance enables better control of tools in 

unexpected situations.

3. 

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use 

your common sense. Do not operate any 

machine or tool when you are tired, under the 

influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

1. 

Disconnect the device from the power source 

before servicing.

2. 

Protect yourself against electric shocks when 

working on electrical equipment. Avoid body 

contact with grounded surfaces. There is an 

increased chance of electrical shock if your 

body is grounded.

CAUTION! A qualified electrician should perform  

all wiring.

TOOL USE AND CARE

1. 

Do not alter any parts of the product. All parts 

and accessories are designed with built-in 

safety features that may be compromised  

if altered.

2. 

Make certain that the power source conforms to 

the requirements of your equipment.

3. 

When wiring an electrically driven device, follow 

all electrical and safety codes, as well as the 

most recent Canadian Electrical Code (CE) and 

the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health 

and Safety (CCOHS).

4. 

Always disconnect cables from the battery and 

ground cable prior to repairs. Always reconnect 

cable to the battery and the ground cable after 

the repairs.

UNPACKING

1. 

Carefully remove the product from the package.

a. 

Retain packing material until you have  

carefully inspected and satisfactorily 

installed the product.

2. 

Inspect the parts carefully to make sure the 

device was not damaged while shipping.

ASSEMBLY

1. 

Plug the 4-Way harness into the vehicle’s trailer 

wiring connector.

2. 

Secure any excess wire to the vehicle with  

cable ties.

3. 

Plug the 4-Way harness into the trailer’s  

wiring connector.

4. 

Turn the vehicle’s ignition to the “accessory” 

position and visually check the light functions to 

ensure connections are functioning properly.

NOTE: Applying a small amount of grease to the wiring 

terminals helps to prevent corrosion.

MAINTENANCE

1. 

Get optimal performance in extreme weather 

conditions - apply electrical tape, thus 

protecting and supporting the plug and wiring 

from UV and salt.

2. 

Maintain the product with care. A product in 

good condition is efficient and will prevent 

unnecessary problems.

3. 

Inspect the product periodically. Have damaged 

or worn components repaired or replaced by an 

authorized technician.

4. 

If the device does not operate, check all 

electrical connections and ensure that they are 

secure and free of dirt and grime.

NOTE: Locate wires on the vehicle by function. Colour 

coding is not standard among all manufacturers.

DISPOSING OF THE TOOL

If your product has become damaged beyond repair, do not 

throw it out. Bring it to the appropriate recycling facility.
