WHEEL TOE ALIGNMENT INSPECTION
NOTICE
The following alignment measurement procedures are
intended for a quick check of vehicle alignment angles.
If finer measurement accuracy, or significant
adjustments, are required, please refer to alignment
adjustment procedures in the Service Manual.
1. Place machine on a smooth level surface and set
steering wheel in a straight ahead position. Secure
the steering wheel in this position.
2. Place chalk marks at the center line of all 4 tires (1),
at equal heights from the ground on each tire (F1 &
F2, R1 & R2).
FRONT TOE
1. Measure distances F1 and F2 between the chalk
marks.
2. Subtract measurement F1 from F2 to calculate the
front wheel total toe. A positive result indicates total
toe IN. A negative result indicates total toe OUT.
MEASUREMENT
Total Toe:
1/4” (6.35 mm) toe-in – 1/4” (6.35 mm) toe-out,
nominal 0” (0 mm)
REAR TOE
1. Measure distances R1 and R2 between the chalk
marks.
2. Subtract measurement R1 from R2 to calculate the
rear wheel total toe. A positive result indicates total
toe IN. A negative result indicates total toe OUT.
MEASUREMENT
Total Toe:
1/2” (12.7 mm) toe-in – 0” (0 mm) toe-out, nominal 1/
4” toe-in (6.35 mm)
REAR THRUST ANGLE
1. Measure horizontally between the center of the
nearest radius rod bolt, to the rim edge, on both rear
wheels.
2. Nominal difference between these two
measurements should be less than 1/8” (3.1 mm).
