HAND / THUMB WARMERS
HAND / THUMB WARMER POWER
MANAGEMENT
NOTICE
Some tests require a 12V battery, Next-Gen Service
Power Harness: PS-52573, and the Chassis Power-Up
Harness: PS-47296–B.
When the engine is running, the hand / thumb warmers
will only turn on when the warmer switch(s) are in the
high or low position on the left-hand control.
For testing the power supply to the hand / thumb
warmers, follow steps below:
• Connect a fully–charged 12V battery, Next-Gen
Service Power Harness, and the Chassis Power-Up
Harness to the Chassis PWR test connector.
• Select low or high for the desired warmer to test.
• The selected warmer(s) should begin to warm-up. If
they do not, test again while testing for voltage at the
applicable element pad connector. If voltage is present
at the connector while running the test, measure the
resistance of each element and compare to
specification.
• If voltage is not present at the connector, test the
applicable switch connector at the left-hand control
block. Test the applicable left-hand control switch wire
connector for continuity.
• If the left-hand hand / thumb warmer switches are
working, inspect the wires between the left-hand
control and applicable element pad harness connector
for damage.
• If any of either the hand or thumb warmer switches are
not working, replace the left-hand control and re-test.
THUMB WARMER DIAGNOSTICS
The thumb warmer on all Polaris snowmobiles is a
thermistor-type warming element pad. This means its
resistance will change based on temperature.
