CAPACITORS
GROUND SPEED SENSOR CAPACITOR
OVERVIEW
A .1 μF capacitor is connected to the vehicle speed
sensor circuit. This capacitor filters the speed sensor
signal. The ground speed capacitor is blue in color and
located on a wiring harness under the upper steering
post assembly.
MEASURING CAPACITANCE
NOTICE
The following test was validated using a Fluke 115
Digital Multimeter. Different meters can be used, but
may provide slightly different resistance readings.
Testing LOW μF Capacitors:
1. Remove the capacitor from the circuit.
2. Set the multimeter to measure capacitance.
3. Connect the red test probe to the (+) terminal, and the
black test probe to the (-) terminal.
NOTICE
Multimeters with capacitance testing typically discharge
the capacitor prior to testing. Reference the meter’s
owner’s manual for details.
4. The reading should match the capacitance
specification for the capacitor. If it does not, replace
the capacitor.
