Moistening Problems (envelopes don't seal)
Symptom
Solution
Low sealant
level
Check that sealer bottle has fluid and that it has been
seated properly in the holder (should make a “glug”
sound when seated properly).
See the instructions in
Chapter 11, Maintenance.
Dry moistener
brush
Check that sealer bottle/moistener has fluid.
Check that sealer bottle is installed correctly.
Check that the grate is installed correctly (an incorrect
installation can keep the brush from contacting the wick
properly).
Try wetting the moistener brush with E-Z Seal®. If the
brush drys out quickly, replace the moistener wick.
See the instructions in
Chapter 11, Maintenance.
Dirty moistener
brush
Remove the moistener brush. Clean it in plain water and
rinse thoroughly (see
Chapter 11, Maintenance).
Worn moist-
ener brush
Replace the moistener brush* (see
Chapter 11, Mainte-
nance)
Slow acting
glue and en-
vironmental
conditions may
affect sealing
To resolve these conditions, perform the following proce-
dure a few seconds after the mail pieces have exited the
machine:
A. Remove the mail from the drop stacker.
B. Examine the mail pieces and assure each envelope
flap is seated flat against the body of the envelope.
C. If necessary, tamp the mail on the table to assure all
the mail pieces are even with each other.
D. With the mail facing you, run your hand across the
top of the stack, while squeezing the stack together.
This process may be repeated.
E. Allow the envelopes to dry undisturbed.
