(b) 500 Hour Wing Rib Inspection
In PA-32R-300’s only, for airplanes which have not installed Piper Kits No. 767-397 (LH)
and 767-398 (RH) or do not have wing rib assemblies at W.S. 49.25 stamped with Date
Code 8313 (see Figure 3-21) or higher (i.e. - manufactured circa July 2005 or later):

500 hours time-in-service:
1 Place the airplane on jacks per Section II.
2 In both the right and left wings:
a Remove the Main Landing Gear Side Brace, by removing the five (5) bolts that
fasten it to the wing structure. Retain hardware for reassembly.
b Inspect the Rib Assembly for evidence of cracks in the bend radius of the flange
common to the Main Spar Web (as show in Figure 3-20), using dye penetrant
inspection techniques.
3 If a crack is detected, identify the path of the propagation, and determine if trimming,
as shown in Figure 3-21, will remove all the material affected by the crack.
a If so, install the appropriate kit.
b If this cannot be accomplished, replace the cracked Rib Assembly.
4 If no cracks are detected, reassemble/reinstall any parts or components previously
removed.
5 Verify proper functioning of landing gear.
6 Verify gear are down and locked and remove airplane from jacks.
7 Make an appropriate logbook entry.
(24) 164-02201 BRAKE DISC 100 HOUR INSPECTION
For airplanes equipped with Parker Hannifin (Cleveland) main wheels 40-90 and/or brake disc
164-02201 (or 164-022A),
each 100 hours time-in-service, annually, or at each tire change,
whichever comes first, inspect the main wheel brake disc for defects and wear as follows:
(a) Remove and disassemble each main wheel assembly per paragraph 6-24.
(b) Clean and inspect per paragraphs 6-25 and 6-31.
(c) If disc is within wear limits and no defects or cracking in the cup wall can be detected
visually, proceed to a penetrant or magnetic particle inspection.
NOTE: Strip topcoat and primer for magnetic particle inspection and, if required by
penetrant manufacturer’s instructions.
(d) Any brake disc exhibiting cracking or defects is unairworthy and must be replaced.
(e) Any brake disc deemed airworthy by inspection, above, may be repainted and returned to
service.
(f) Make an appropriate logbook entry documenting completion of this inspection.
