Software Update
Use this pr ocedu r e to u p date the unit’s softwa r e. You can
u p date the softwa r e via a USB sto r age device.
U p dating via a USB sto r age device is p e r fo r med by
downloading the u p date file f r om a com p ute r , r eading this file
onto a USB sto r age device then inse r ting the USB sto r age
device into the USB p o r t on the unit’s f r ont p anel.
• If an u p date file is pr ovided on the Pionee r website,
download it onto you r com p ute r . When downloading an
u p date file f r om the Pionee r website onto you r
com p ute r , the file will be in ZIP fo r mat. Unzi p the ZIP file
befo r e saving it on the USB sto r age device. If the r e a r e
any old downloaded files o r downloaded files fo r othe r
models on the USB sto r age device, delete them.
Important
• DO NOT un p lug the p owe r co r d du r ing u p dating.
• When u p dating via a USB sto r age device, do not
disconnect the USB sto r age device.
1 Press SET UP.
The

2 Select Option Setting  Software Update 
Start, then press ENTER.
3 To update, select OK.
The u p dating sc r een a pp ea r s and u p dating sta r ts.
• The p owe r tu r ns off automatically once u p dating is
com p leted.

Sound settings
Using the Virtual Surround/Sound Retriever
You can add exciting effects to audio sou r ces.
1 Press SOUND to select Virtual Surround or
Sound Retriever.
2 Use
/
to select On or Off, then press
ENTER.
About Sound Retriever
This function enhances sound data lost du r ing com pr ession
of MP3 and othe r file ty p es, allowing the use r to enjoy sound
quality close r to that of the o r iginal signal data.
Adjusting the bass and treble
Use the bass and t r eble cont r ols to adjust the ove r all tone.
1 Press SOUND to select Bass or Treble.
2 Use
/
to adjust the bass or treble, then
press ENTER.
You can adjust low and high sounds on a scale of –5 to +5
(eleven ste p s).
Resetting the system
Use this pr ocedu r e to r eset all system settings to the facto r y
default.
Important
• Disconnect all com p onents connected to this unit
befo r e the o p e r ation.
1 Press STANDBY/ON.
The unit tu r ns on.
2 Press and hold


STANDBY/ON on
the top panel for three seconds.
The unit tu r ns off (standby mode).
All the settings will be r eset to the facto r y default next time the
unit is tu r ned on.

Description
File Not Found. No u p date file was found on the USB sto r age
device. Sto r e the file in the USB sto r age
device’s r oot di r ecto r y.
Data format
error. T r y disconnecting then r econnecting the
USB sto r age device o r sto r ing the u p date file
again. If the e rr o r still occu r s, t r y using a
diffe r ent USB sto r age device.
Update failed.
