When moving this unit

Place of installation
• Choose a stable p lace nea r the TV o r ste r eo system being
used with this unit.
• Do not p lace this unit on to p of a TV o r colo r monito r .
Also install it away f r om cassette decks and othe r
devices easily affected by magnetic fo r ces.
Avoid the following locations:
• Places ex p osed to di r ect sunlight
• Humid o r p oo r ly ventilated p laces
• Ext r emely hot p laces
• Places ex p osed to vib r ations
• Places in which the r e is much dust o r ciga r ette smoke
• Places ex p osed to soot, steam o r heat (kitchens, etc.)
Do not place objects on this unit.
Do not p lace any objects on to p of this unit.
Do not obstruct the ventilation holes.
Do not use this unit on shaggy r ugs, beds, sofas, etc., o r
w r a pp ed in cloth, etc. Doing so will pr event the heat f r om

About condensation
If this unit is moved suddenly f r om a cold p lace into a wa r m
r oom (in winte r , fo r exam p le) o r if the tem p e r atu r e in the r oom
in which this unit is installed r ises suddenly due to heate r
o p e r ation, etc., wate r d r o p lets (condensation) may fo r m
inside (on o p e r ating p a r ts and the lens). When condensation
is pr esent, this unit will not o p e r ate pr o p e r ly and p layback is
not p ossible. Let this unit stand at r oom tem p e r atu r e fo r 1 o r
2 hou r s with the p owe r tu r ned on (the time de p ends on the
extent of condensation). The wate r d r o p lets will dissi p ate and
p layback will become p ossible. Condensation can also occu r
in the summe r if this unit is di r ectly ex p osed to the ai r flow
f r om an ai r -conditione r . If this ha pp ens, move this unit to a
diffe r ent p lace.
Cleaning the product
• Un p lug the p owe r co r d f r om the p owe r outlet when
cleaning this unit.
• Clean this unit using a soft cloth. Fo r tough di r t, a pp ly
some neut r al dete r gent diluted in 5 to 6 p a r ts wate r to a
soft cloth, w r ing out tho r oughly, wi p e off the di r t, then
wi p e again with a soft, d r y cloth.
• Alcohol, thinne r , benzene, insecticides, etc., could
cause the pr int o r p aint to p eel off. Also, leaving r ubbe r
o r vinyl pr oducts in contact with this unit fo r long p e r iods
of time could ma r the cabinet.
• When using chemical-im pr egnated wi p es, etc., r ead the
cautions included with the wi p es ca r efully.
Cleaning the lens
• This unit’s lens should not become di r ty in no r mal use,
but if fo r some r eason it should malfunction due to dust
o r di r t, consult you r nea r est Pionee r autho r ized se r vice
cente r . Although lens cleane r s fo r p laye r s a r e
comme r cially available, we advise against using them
since some may damage the lens.

Handling discs
Storing
• Always p lace discs in thei r cases and sto r e them
ve r tically, avoiding hot, humid p laces, p laces ex p osed to
di r ect sunlight and ext r emely cold p laces.
• Be su r e to r ead the cautions included with the disc.
Cleaning discs
• Discs may not p lay if the r e a r e finge rpr ints o r dust on
them. In this case, use a cleaning cloth, etc., to gently
wi
p e the disc f r om the inside towa r ds the outside. Do not
use di r ty cleaning cloths.
