USING MIDI FOR COMPUTER CONTROL
MIDI (Musical Inst r ument Digital Inte r face) is a standa r dized
pr otocol used to gove r n data t r ansmission between elect r onic
musical inst r uments and com p ute r s.
The MEP-7000 uses the MIDI message fo r mat to out p ut its
o p e r ating data and status to a com p ute r connected by USB cable.
By using a DJ softwa r e pr og r am with USB MIDI su pp o r t to assign
the MIDI messages out p ut by the MEP-7000, the MEP-7000 can be
used to cont r ol the DJ softwa r e.


Control in “Normal Style”
1 Connect to the computer.
When the USB connection with the com p ute r is pr o p e r ly
established, the BROWSE sc r een’s [
PC
] icon will change to
active dis p lay.
2 Start the DJ software program.
The icon will not change.
3 Designate the MEP-7000 as an audio output device in the DJ
software.
In “No r mal style”, designating the MEP-7000 as an audio
out p ut device will enable it to out p ut t r acks p layed f r om the DJ
softwa r e. Consult you r su pp o r ted DJ softwa r e’s inst r uction
manual fo r details r ega r ding how to designate the MEP-7000
as an audio out p ut device.
4 Select [PC] on the BROWSE screen.
When communication is established with the DJ softwa r e, the
cente r dis p lay’s BROWSE sc r een will indicate the com p ute r
cont r ol status. While the BROWSE sc r een is dis p layed, the
cente r dis p lay out p uts MIDI messages that enable o p e r ation of
the DJ softwa r e by using the r ota r y selecto r dial and select u p
(  ) and down (  ) buttons.
5 Press LOAD A (or B) button.
When the LOAD A (o r LOAD B ) button is pr essed, cont r olle r A
(o r B) MIDI messages a r e out p ut, allowing use of the cont r olle r
to o p e r ate the DJ softwa r e. Du r ing DJ softwa r e o p e r ation, the
cont r olle r a pp ea r s highlighted in the BROWSE sc r een.
MEMO
• While the UTILITY sc r een is being dis p layed on the cente r
dis p lay, the cente r dis p lay’s buttons and r ota r y selecto r dial
cannot be used to cont r ol DJ softwa r e.
