an error will be triggered indicated by bStatus showing ON. If the bStatus is ON,
monitor the status for two more cycles to see if the error is persistent.
If the system is still showing an error with the pinch valve after two cycles, the Pinch
valve can be manually activated to check pinch valve is operating properly. First put the
DPM Reader in standby mode as per Section 11.3. Then activate the pinch valve by
pressing the green OPEN button on the VALUE STATUS page. The Pinch Valve can
be closed again by pressing the red CLOSE button. You should hear an audible click
when the pinch valve switches position.
Check the actual state of pinch valve inside the unit. Does it change status from open
to closed? When ON the pinch valve should pinch the hose coming from the Humidity
filter on the right side of the enclosure and allow site air sample to be taken from inlet at
the bottom of the DPM Reader. When OFF the pinch valve will sample air through the
Humidity filter.
If it is not working, check the status of Phoenix Contact Relay No 3 when the pinch valve
is manually set to ON. Check that the digital output voltage for the relay is 5VDC using
a multimeter.
Check the 12VDC is present on the pinch valve output header on the DPM Carrier Board
when the pinch valve is manually turned on. There is a Hit-and-Hold module on the DPM
Carrier Board that manages the power consumption of the pinch valve.
If there is 12VDC present out of the DPM carrier board pinch valve header then the
pinch valve is not working and will need to be replaced. If there is voltage out of the
relay but not the DPM Carrier board pinch valve header, the Hit-and-Hold module may
be at fault and the DPM Carrier board will need to be replaced. If there is no voltage out
of the relay, try replacing the relay first.
12.2 Heater
From the SYSTEM OVERVIEW page, clicking on the HEATER box will take the user to
the HEATER STATUS page (Figure 56). This will allow operators to monitor and
manually control the heater output. Turning on the heater allows the sample air to
increase in temperature for accurate sampling which is monitored by the thermometer
sensor input.
