2 Safety precautions and recycling
2.1 Cautions
Before using the device please read this manual carefully.
Notes for safe operation:
● The Pinecil can either work with a 12-21V battery, a power supply via the 5525 (5.5mm outer
diameter, 2.5mm post) center-positive jack or with any USB power supply that supports the QC2,
QC3 or USB-PD (Power Delivery) specification. QC2 and most QC3 power supplies will only be
able to provide a maximum of 12V, limiting the Pinecil to about 17W of thermal capability. A
suitable USB-PD power supply / power bank will be able to provide 20V will allow the Pinecil to
deliver the full 60W of heat to the soldering tip.
● You should always solder on a stable, sturdy and heat resistant surface to avoid injury or damage
to your belongings.
● The Pinecil’s soldering tip reaches very high temperatures during operation - you should therefore
never touch the tip during or right after soldering. Touching the tip during or right after operation
can cause severe injury.
● After powering down the Pinecil, the soldering tip will remain hot for up-to 20 minutes. Make sure
to place the device on a flat, sturdy and non-flammable surface after soldering. Failing to do so
can be dangerous and a potential fire hazard.
2.2 Recycling of components
Recycling any Pinecil components should be done according to local regulation. This may require you to
dispose of the Pinecil or its parts at a local recycling centre or at a designated container.
Please consult local legislation for details.

settings - the settings menu can be entered using the minus (-) button. Pressing the minus (-) button
changes the menu setting while the plus (+) button enters a sub-menu.
Pressing the plus (+) button on the main screen will start heating up the soldering tip. The soldering
