General notes on safety:
This operation manual is applicable for the machines PMAS 5/230 HV,
PMAS 5/180 HV, PMAS 5/280 HV.
a) Keep working area clean and in a well-lit condition.
b) Do not use the tool in an environnement which is explosive or
inflammable.
c) Keep bystanders away while the machine is being used.
d) Always wear protective glasses! Spraying sparks, chips or grinding
disc fragments can cause eye injuries.
e) Always wear ear protection!
f) It is recommended to wear gloves.
g) Closely fitting clothes, and binding of long hair!
h) The machine does not provide insulation in the event of contact
with electrical lines.
i) If necessary, use dust vacuuming or breathing apparatus. Dust and
vapors produced when working can be harmful to the health.
use of the machine for purposes for which it is intended:
The machine is made for the grinding an deburring of metal with
hard-metal milling-tools and synthetic resin-bond form grinding tools.
Incorrect use:
All uses other than those described are regarded as incorrect use and
are therefore not admissible.
Recommended Accessories:
Coupling with min ID 5.5 mm.
1/2“ -Service Unit (Capacity 5-8 Micron). With Lubricator.
Air supply requirements:
The ISO/DIS quality specifications require, that air is free of solid
particles larger than 5 micron, remaining water content to be max.
6 g/m³ (pressure dew point +3 degree C) and air may contain
5 mg/m³ of oil. Therefore please observe the following:
• Operating with dirty air reduces tool life substantially. Before
installing extension hoses, blow them clean and minimize , if at
all necessary coupling and keep them clean.
• Rust will occur, if air supply is not lubricated and wet. A few drops
of air tool oil from time to time will prevent rust and stops bearings
from seizing.
• Conserve: Put some drops of oil in the air inlet and briefly blow
through.
Taking the machine into service:
Lever action: Til safety pin towards and press down lever.
Attention:
Before connecting to air supply, check that throttle is closed.
Operating conditions:
Temperature range during operation: -10 °C to +40 °C
Relative air humidity: 10 % to 95 % not condensed
Tools:
Use only tools and adapters recommended by the manufacturer.
Observe the tool manufacturers instructions!
Only tools with a diameter of smaller than 50 mm may be used.Use
only grinding tools whose admissible maximum speed is equal to or
higher than the no-load speed of the machine.
The minimum chucking length of the tool must be 10 mm. It is spe-
cially noted that the maximum admissible speed of the tool must be
increasingly reduced the more it protrudes out of the collet chuck.
It must also be ensured that the collet chuck and the tool are a match-
ing fit. non-matching tools and chucks pose a hazard.
Use only clean tools!
Changing/fitting tools:
Disconnect air supply before changing tools/abrasives!
Trial run!
Check tools before use. The tool must be correctly mounted and
must rotate freely.
Perform a trial run a minimum over a period of 30 seconds without
load. Do not used tools which are damaged, which do not run true
or which vibrate!
Working instructions:
To run the machine down release the valve lever.
On failure of the compressed air release the valve lever!
Place or fasten the tool securely on the working surface.
• To achieve an optimum grinding result, move grinding wheel
uniformly back and forth with light pressure.
• Excessive pressure lessens the working capability of the machine,
as well as the life of the grinding wheel.
Preventive maintenance:
• Store the machine in clean and dry condition at all times.
• Regular maintenance is indispensable for the safety of the machine.
• Without a tool clamped in check no-load speed periodically and
after each maintenance.
• Use only recommended lubricants.
• After approx. 300-400 operating hours, but at least once yearly,
remove and clean the motor, check the four lamellas for wear and
replace if necessary.
• Periodically check the following parts for good condition: Supply
hose and fastenings thereof (torn-off pneumatic hoses can whip
around), machine spindle.
Replacement of the exhaust air hose:
Draw the exhaust air hose off the swivel ring and replace this hose
with a new one.
Repair:
If despite strict observante of the manufacturing and testing method
the tool should happen to fail, it must be repaired by an authorized
PFERD agency.
Accessories:
For accessories and the respective order numbers, please refer to the
PFERD Tool Manual. Subject to change. Please indicate machine type
and order number when ordering spare parts.
do not use accessories which are not specifically designed
and recommended by the tool manufacturer.
Just because the
accessory can be attached to your air-powered tool, it does not as-
sure safe operation.
Warranty:
Our guarantee for defects on electric and air grinders as also the
required accessories is exercised in such a manner that all parts, which
have material defects, will either be repaired or replaced free of charge.
Warranty for these material defect claims shall be valid for a period of
twelve (12) months at the most. This does not apply if longer periods
of time are stipulated by law. The warranty shall not cover damage
caused by improper handling, the use of spare parts other than our
own, or by repairs carried out in workshops other than our own.
Warranty claims can only be considered, if tool is returned complete.
Any further claims of the orderer, in particular for compensation
for damage not arisen on the goods themselves, shall be excluded.
Storage:
Temperature range during operation: -15 °C to +50 °C
Max. relative air humidity: 15 % to 40 %
Changes/Retention:
Subject to change!
Keep operating instructions for further use!
