The lubricant type is specified on the rating plate
► Please refer to rating plate of the vacuum pump for type and quantity of intended lubricant.
– Only the lubricant used during initial installation is permissible.
– D2 is permitted as a replacement for D1.
► Contact Pfeiffer Vacuum if you want to use another type of lubricant.
Required tools
● Open-end wrench, 17 mm WAF
● Calibrated torque wrench (tightening factor ≤ 2.5)

Procedure
1. Unscrew and remove the lubricant filler screws.
2. Fill the lubricant on both sides while observing the sight glass.
– Fill levels for the first fill: approx. 5 mm above the sight glass middle.
3. Screw in the filler screws.
– Tightening torque:
32 Nm
4. Check the fill level during operation in the final vacuum.
5. If necessary, top up the lubricant only when the roots pump is switched off and vented.
5.3 Filling with sealing oil
NOTICE
Damage to the vacuum pump due to incorrect procedure when filling sealing oil
Disassembly of the lubricator causes leakage in the system. The lubricant expands when the roots
pump heats up, which could cause lubricant to leak if overfilled.
► Use only the lubricator’s filler flap to fill up.
► While the roots pump is cold, fill the lubricator
no more than halfway

Versions with RSSR
This section is only valid for roots pumps with radial shaft seal rings. The version with mag-
netic coupling "M" does not have a lubricator.
The shaft feedthrough of the drive shaft is sealed with sealing oil-covered radial shaft seals. The corre-
sponding oiler on the seal casing cools and lubricates the radial shaft seal rings. The sealing oil type is
the same as the lubricant.
