Engine Maintenance
WARNING!
Exhaust fumes from the engine con-
tain carbon monoxide, a colorless
and odor less gas. Do not breathe
the engine exhaust gas. A poorly
maintained, damaged or corroded
exhaust system can allow carbon
monoxide to enter the cab. Entry of
carbon monoxide into the cab is also
possible from other vehicles nearby.
Failure to properly maintain your ve-
hicle could cause carbon monoxide
to enter the cab and cause death or
personal injury.
WARNING!
Never idle your vehicle for prolonged
periods of time if you sense that ex-
haust fumes are entering the cab.
Investigate the cause of the fumes
and correct it as soon as possible.
If the vehicle must be driven under
these conditions, drive only with the
windows open. Failure to repair the
source of the exhaust fumes may re-
sult in death, personal injury, equip-
ment or property damage.
NOTE
Keep the engine exhaust system
and the vehicles cab ventilation
system properly maintained.
It is
recommended that the vehicles ex-
haust system and cab be inspected:
•
By a competent technician every
15,000 miles
•
Whenever a change is noticed in
the sound of the exhaust system
•
Whenever the exhaust system,
underbody or cab is damaged
