Introduction to the Raman IdentiCheck . 49
8.
Leave the system to equilibrate.
When you start the software the instrument will prepare for use. The laser will be
turned on. The Laser LED on the instrument and the Probe Path LED on the probe will
come on. The detector will be cooled to its operating temperature (usually −50
o
C).
How long this takes will depend on the environmental conditions; up to 30 minutes at
30 °C, as an extreme example.
Messages will be displayed in the Status bar at the bottom of the workspace, and in the
Scan icons on the Measurement bar.
9.
Select
Raman Instrument
from the Setup menu.
The Setup Instrument tabs are displayed.
10.
Select the Setup Instrument Basic tab.
11.
Ensure that the
Triggered Fiber Optic Probe
you wish to use is selected as the
Accessory.
When you make the selection, the Probe Path LED on the probe will light-up blue. This
indicates that the probe is ready for use.
NOTE: For safety reasons, when the TFOP is selected as the Accessory, all Scan buttons in
the software are disabled. Scanning using a TFOP can only be started using the
trigger on the probe. If you have selected the triggered fiber optic probe as the
accessory, and the instrument is ready to scan, the scan icons will indicate this; for
example,
.
See
SOP-4: Collecting a Spectrum with a Triggered Fiber Optic Probe
on page 56 for
details.
12.
Carry out a Wavelength Calibration Verification, as described in SOP-6 on page 59.
Once this calibration verification has been successfully completed, your IdentiCheck
system is ready to use.
