Pump
from the
Options
menu.
This starts the forepump and the turbomolecular pump.

In the
Vacuum Pressure Gauges
area of the window, observe the Pirani gauge
time line and the Penning gauge time line. Wait about 5 minutes until the
vacuum gauge achieves about 2.5 x 10-5.
Leak Checking
Before running in the CI mode, confirm that the column is properly installed and the
system is leak-free. The best way to check this is by running CI without the reagent gas.
To leak check a system:
1.
Display the Tune page.
2.
Select
CI+
from the
Ion Mode
menu.
3.
Click
Press for Operate
and observe the air/water masses.
