START-UP PROCEDURE:
Pentair Intellichlor
SALT SYSTEM
This is a simplify start-up version, but as the new owner of a
Pentair Intellichlor
system, we strongly recommend the reading
of your owner’s manual
Before starting, make sure the pool is clean. Normally, after the installation, as in the spring, the
pool requires a good cleaning. You can refer to the owner’s manual for instructions on cleaning
in the Waste Filter Mode.
Before beginning, the pool must be functioning but your
Intellichlor
system must be
unplug.
Pour the recommended quantity of salt in the deep end of the pool. (See table below)
Wait approximately 48 hours for the salt to completely dissolve, do not perform a
Backwash
or
Waste
during this period.
After 48 hours, you are ready to do your first PPM reading. To do so, connect you Intellichlor
and let it work for about 5 to 10 minutes, then check on your board your
«Salt level»,
adjust
your salt level if needed.
On your board, go to «
Sanitizer Output»
to set your system at
60% using «
More»
. Let your system work
for about 2 days. Then, test your pool chlorine level using your test kit
(yellow drops).If the concentration of chlorine is to high press «
Less»
under Sanitizer Output on your board. In contrary, if the concentration of
chlorine is too low, press «
More
» under Sanitizer Output on your board.
Always use «
Less»
or «
More»
touch under
Sanitizer Output
to set and
adjust your % of chlorine production.
Over the summer, the % of chlorine production will probably have to be
change depending on your use of the pool, the water’s temperature, the
ambient temperature and the length of days (for example, the need for
chlorine will be increasing during a heat wave and will decrease when it’s
cold.).

When opening a pool that already have a salt system (where the water was salted the previous year),
follow the same steps but pour in the water
half of the quantity of salt indicated in the table below.
For
example, an F-3 will need 1½ bag of salt (only once the spring shock treatment has been done, the cleaning of
the pool is finish and the water level of the pool is reaching the middle of the skimmer along the two arrows)
