Note:
- Splice and isolate the cable shield drains at all of the subordinate devices on the
network trunk.
- You must connect the cable shield to the ground at one point along the daisy chain
only, typically at the master device.

Connecting the EOL resistor
The following figure shows an example of ADPT-MR5-RS485 adapters in a daisy chain. The
terminating adapters in this example have EOL configuration. To configure a controller as an
EOL device, connect the 220 ohm metal film resistor (MFR) (1/2 W) to the + and - terminals on the
adapter in parallel with the RS485 network wires on the adapter.
