START-UP PROCEDURE
FOR YOUR S AFETY
READ BEFORE OPERATING
OPERATING IN S TRUCTION S
1. S TOP! Read the s afety information above.
2. S et the thermo s tat to lowe s t s ettin g .
3 . Turn off all electric power to the appliance.
4. Thi s appliance i s equipped with an i g nition
device which automatically li g ht s the burner.
Do not try to li g ht the burner by hand.
5. Turn g a s s hutoff valve clockwi s e to "OFF".
Handle will be perpendicular to pipe, do not force.
6. Wait five (5) minute s to clear out any g a s .
Then s mell for g a s , includin g near the floor.
If you s mell g a s , S TOP! Follow "B" in the s afety
information above on thi s label. If you don’t s mell
g a s , g o to the next s tep.
7. Turn g a s s hutoff valve counterclockwi s e
to "ON". Handle will be in line with the pipe.
8. Turn on a ll electric power to appliance.
9. S et thermo s tat to de s ired s ettin g .
10. If the appliance will not operate, follow the
in s truction s "To Tur n Off Ga s To A ppliance"
and call your s ervice technician or g a s s upplier.

A. Thi s appliance doe s not have a pilot. It i s
equipped with an i g nition device which

B. BEFORE OPERATING s mell all around the
appliance area for g a s . Be s ure to s mell next
to the floor becau s e s ome g a s i s heavier than
air and will s ettle on the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU DO S MELL GA S

Do not try to li g ht any appliance.

Do not touch any electric s witch;
do not u s e any phone in your buildin g .
Immediately call your g a s s upplier from a
nei g hbor’ s phone. Follow the g a s s upplier’ s
in s truction s .
If you cannot reach your g a s s upplier,
call the fire department.
C. U s e only your hand to turn the g a s control
valve. Never u s e tool s . If the handle will not
turn by hand, don’t try to repair it, call a
qualified
s ervice technician. Force or
attempted repair may re s ult in a fire or
explo s ion.
D. Do not u s e thi s appliance if any part ha s
been under water. Immediat ely call a
qualified
s ervice technician to in s pect the
appliance and to replace any part of the
control
s y s tem and any g a s control which
ha s been under water.
