1.7.3 SCREEN FAULT MESSAGES
Fault messages are automatically displayed on Screen 2.
To reset fault indications, first determine and remove the
cause of the fault, then operate the stop/reset control (open
a reset input control circuit or use Screen -1 if this is
enabled (keyboard control - Screen 63; refer also Appendix
3)).
Fault conditions, their interpretation, and suggested
remedies are listed below:
Fault
LVDC SUPPLY LOW
Detail
Failure of +24V or +15V supplies.
Sense level
24V supply falls below 22Vdc; 15V supply
falls below 12Vdc.
Possible cause Overload of tacho supply (Terminal 16);
internal Microdrive fault.
Action
Check tacho circuit if fitted. If fault is
persistent, service or replace Microdrive.
Fault
SUPPLY FAULT
Detail
Input supply phase voltage imbalance.
Sense level
40Vac ripple voltage in Microdrive DC bus.
Ripple is load dependent so phase
imbalance will be most sensitive under
heavy load conditions. Under light load
conditions, the Microdrive will run
satisfactorily with only two phases
connected.
Possible cause Loss of phase, fuse, motor phase loss,
motor winding fault.
Action
Check supply conditions, check wiring to
motor, check motor.
Fault
OVERVOLTAGE TRIP
Detail
DC bus voltage has risen to a dangerous
level
Sense level
800Vdc.
Possible cause Very high mains surge. Excessive
regeneration from regenerative load or
excessive deceleration rate (refer detailed
description of Screen 16). Earth fault on
motor.
Action
Reduce deceleration rate. Check motor
circuit for earth fault. Apply S-curve (Screen
17).
Fault
LOW MAINS SUPPLY
Detail
Mains voltage has dropped too low
( = HV LOW TRIP - Screen 73).
Sense level
280Vac (400Vdc on DC bus).
Possible cause Mains interruption, dip.
Action
Check supply conditions. Disable HV low
trip (refer detailed description of Screen 73).
Fault
O/P I IMBALANCE
Detail
Output phase current imbalance.
Sense level
±30% of Microdrive rated current.
Possible cause Phase loss to motor; motor winding fault.
Action
Check wiring to motor; check motor.
Fault
OVERCURRENT TRIP
Detail
Output current has reached a dangerous
level.
Sense level
180% of Microdrive rated current.
Possible cause Short circuit; wiring fault; circuit fault; motor
fault.
Action
Check entire output circuit and motor for
wiring or winding faults. Check output circuit
contactors for correct operation.
Fault
IGBT/SLAVE FAULT
Detail
Automatic protection of the internal power
switching semiconductor device has
operated or fault has occured in a slave
drive in a parallel drive configuration.
Sense level
-
Possible cause Short circuit; wiring fault; circuit fault; motor
fault; IGBT failure. Or for a slave fault, any
fault on a slave drive.
Action
Check entire output circuit and motor for
wiring or winding faults. If fault persists
when output leads are disconnected,
replace or service the Microdrive.
Or, for a slave fault, any fault on a slave
drive. For a slave fault check slave drive/s
for faults. Take any necessary action before
resetting the slave, then reset the master
drive.
Fault
BRAKE THERMAL TRIP
Detail
The temperature calculated by the thermal
model of the dynamic brake resistor has
reached a dangerous level.
Sense level
Set by dynamic brake thermal model
(Screens 44, 45).
Possible cause Excessive regeneration for the resistor
specified in Screens 44, 45. Incorrect
values entered.
Action
Check values (refer detailed descriptions of
Screens 44, 45). Reduce regeneration.
Select a bigger braking resistor. Reduce
deceleration rate.
Notes:
Active whether a dynamic brake is
connected or not.
Fault
MOTOR THERMAL TRIP
Detail
The temperature calculated by the thermal
model of the motor has reached a
dangerous level.
Sense level
110%.
Possible cause Excessive load on motor (current draw too
high); motor load exceeds cooling capacity
at the operating speed; motor phase loss;
motor winding fault; motor thermal model
parameters incorrectly set. Refer also to the
detailed descriptions of Screens 1013.
Action
Check load and thermal model settings
(Screens 1013).
Fault
MOTOR MICROTHERM
Detail
External motor winding temperature sensor
(PTC, thermostat etc.) circuit (Terminal 14)
has operated.
Sense level
Circuit resistance exceeds 4 kohms.
Possible cause Motor has become too hot (motor load
exceeds cooling capacity at the operating
speed); fault in sensor wiring.
Action
Check motor temperature and sensor wiring.
Fault
MICRODRIVE THERM TRIP
Detail
The temperature calculated by the
Microdrive inverter thermal model has
reached a dangerous level.
Sense level
150% of rated Microdrive rated current for
30 seconds. Maximum continuous
operation possible without trip is 105% of
Microdrive rating.
Possible cause Continuous overload of Microdrive.
Action
Check load requirements.
