For the order of changing any function value, see cl. 6.1
3.2 "HOT START" FUNCTION
Advantages:
•
improved ignition even when using badly ignited electrodes;
•
better penetration of the base material during ignition, therefore, less
penetration;
•
prevention of slag inclusions;
•
manual setting: allows you to set the function level to the minimum value,
which greatly reduces energy consumption at the initial time of ignition. Due
to this, the source can start at values of the mains voltage close to the lowest
possible, however, this reduces the quality of the ignition moment (the device
becomes similar to a transformer source, however this may be necessary in
certain situations). It is also possible to increase the function to a maximum
value to further improve the ignition point (when operating from a good
mains). But do not forget that the increased current of this function can burn a
product when welding thin metals. Therefore, in this situation, it is
recommended to reduce the value of the "Hot Start" function.
How is this achieved:
Within a short time, when the arc is ignited, the arc current is increased by the
default level of + 40%.
Example: Ø3 mm electrode welding, the installed basic value of the arc current is
90 A.
Result: hot start current will be 90 A + 40% = 126 A.
In the ad
vanced settings, you can change both the “Hot Start” [H.St] force and
the “Hot Start” [t.HS] time. Without the need, do not overestimate the force and
response time of the “Hot Start”, because at high limit values a very strong supply
