EVO Installation Guide
Note:
For ETL and UL The minimum permissible wire size to be employed shall be not smaller than No. 22
AWG (0.32 mm2).
2. Use rubber bushings to protect the wires going through the metal housing.
3. Ground the metal box to a valid ground post or according to local electrical codes.
4.
Do not use any switch-controlled outlets to power the transformer.
The system should be connected to
the building’s power source (grounded outlet) with an AC/AC transformer.
5. Use a UL approved transformer. Use only LSS standard or a surge protected power supply.
For residential installations use transformer made by Universal Power Group model: UB1640W
6. The maximum charging current for the battery is 1amp. For UL installation 850ma charging current is
required.
7. Use only Metal boxes to comply with
ANSI/NFPA 72
.
8. To prevent risk of electric shock, disconnect AC, battery, and phone cord BEFORE Servicing.
9. The knockouts in this box are compatible with standard conduit.
10. Main Supply Circuit – 110V, 60 Hz, with a transformer of max. power 40VA must be Listed to the LSS
standard or must be Surge protected Power supply.
For residential installations use transformer made by Universal Power Group model: UB1640W
11. The system should be installed in accordance with Chapter 2 of the National Fire Alarm Code, ANSI/NFPA 72
12. Installation of Residential Fire Warning Systems shall be in accordance with CAN/ULC-S540;
13. The panel will cease to process sensor trips if the voltage is under 8.5V.
14. Do no short the terminals of the transformer together. This causes the internal fuse to blow.
15. For the US and Canada: The transformer must be connected to a 110VAC/60Hz, 24-hour outlet which is not
controlled by a switch other than an approved over-current protection device. Must be Listed to the LSS
standard or must be Surge protected Power supply.
For residential installations use transformer made by Universal Power Group model: UB1640W
16. For continued protection against risk of fire, replace fuses only with fuses of the same type and rating.
17. Install part TK278 Tamper kit in the panel metal box.
18. Wiring methods shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, the Standard for
Installation and Classification of Burglar and Holdup Alarm Systems, UL 681, and the Standard for Central-
Station Alarm Services, UL 827.
19. Wiring methods in keeping with the requirements of CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, Safety
Standard for Electrical Installations.
20. Connect a power on LED that shows when there is board power visible from outside of the box. The wires
need to be connected to one of the AC terminals and the other to the COM terminal.
