3-11 Functions That Can be Set Using the Optional Communication Mod-
ule SF4D-TM1
Using the communication module SF4D-TM1 (option) and Configurator Light Curtain software,
you can use new functions and change various settings.
Note: The Configurator Light Curtain software can be downloaded free-of-charge from our website ( panasonic.
net/id/pidsx/global ).
3-11-1 Fixed Blanking Function
The fixed blanking function can be used to prevent the device's control output (OSSD 1 / 2) from
turning OFF when a specific beam axis is blocked. Use this function when an obstacle always
blocks a particular beam axis.

When light from the emitter is received by the receiver on an valid beam axis of the fixed blank -
ing function, control output (OSSD 1 / 2) is fixed in the OFF state. Check installation conditions
and then turn ON the power. (The fixed blanking function remains valid even when the power is
turned OFF and ON.)
When the fixed blanking function is used, the device's digital indicator remains OFF regardless
of the intensity of light received.
When optical synchronization is selected, you cannot specify both the beam axis of the bottom
end and the beam axis of the top end as fixed blanking beam axes.
WARNING
When the fixed blanking function is used, the device's control output (OSSD 1 / 2) does not turn
OFF when a specific beam axis is blocked. Use a protective structure to prevent arrival at the ma -
chine's danger zone from the sensing area of the beam axis.
