Quiet Zone
Certain spacing is necessary for the back and forth to scan the barcode.

Start/Stop Character
The particular characters to indicate the start and end of the bar code.

Data Character
The first character is indicated by 5 bars and the second character by 5 spaces in those
pairs. In these 5 elements (bars or spaces), two elements have the wide width.
In case the number of data character is odd, “0” is added at the head to make it even
number.

Bar Code Height
Usually 5 mm or 15% of the symbol width excluding the quiet zone, whichever is greater.
Check Character
Used to check if the read data is correct or not by putting the value calculated with
the certain formula (modulus 10/ weight 3-1) on just before the stop character for re-
calculation.

The ITF bar code can indicate only numerical characters (0 to 9).
•
The start character is “0000” and stop character is “100”. “0” is indicated with narrow bars or spaces. “1” is indicated with
wide bars or spaces.
