• FAT32 formatted disks cannot be used with Windows 95 (other than OSR2) / Windows
NT.

When reading with a device on which an OS other than Windows XP has been installed, it
is necessary to have a drive and a driver that are compatible with DVD-RAM.
Logical formatting
Formatting software and drivers required to conduct each type of formatting have been
installed in this computer.
CAUTION

When formatting is executed, recorded data is erased and can no longer be read.
Back up data as required.

Before starting up formatting software, close all application software that uses DVD-
RAM disks.

Log-on to Windows with the administrator authority.

Set the DVD-RAM disk to be formatted in the DVD MULTI drive.

Click [start] - [All programs] - [DVD-RAM] - [DVD-RAM Driver] - [DVD-
Form]

Click on the
icon in [Format Type] to select the format, and click
[Start].

[Volume label]
You must input a volume name when you select UDF format. When you do not
input one, the volume name is set as “UDF” and the date automatically.

[Execute physical format]
This mode forces a check of all sectors for defects and allocates detected defec-
tive sectors to the spare area. (There is no need to do this every time.)
