How to Use the Documentation

This manual is written for both the BL-C140 and BL-C160. Available 
features and operations vary slightly depending on the model. You can 
confirm the model no. of your camera by checking the model no. printed on 
the front of the camera.
Model number suffixes (“CE” and “E”) are omitted from the following model 
numbers shown in this document, unless necessary. BL-C140CE, BL-
C140E, BL-C160CE, BL-C160E.
All documentation can be found on the included CD-ROM.

Abbreviations

• The Network Camera is referred to as “the camera” in this document.
• The Setup CD-ROM is referred to as “the CD-ROM” in this document.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using this unit, basic safety precautions should always be followed 
to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

Read and understand all instructions.

Keep these instructions.

Attach the Safety Wire to the camera to prevent it from dropping.

6.

After taking away the sand or the dust on the lens cover, wipe the lens 
cover with a dry cloth.

7.

Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with 
instructions.

8.

Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, 
stoves, or other devices (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

9.

Protect the AC adaptor cord and the AC cord from being walked on or 
pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point 
where they exit from the unit.

10. The AC adaptor is used as the main disconnect device. Ensure that 

the AC outlet is installed near the product and is easily accessible.

11. Only use attachments/accessories such as stand specified by the 

manufacturer.

12. Do not touch the unit, the LAN cable, the AC adaptor, the AC adaptor 

cord, or the AC cord during lightning storms.

13. Unplug the unit from power supply when unused for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required 

when the unit has been damaged in any way, such as when the AC 
adaptor, the AC adaptor cord, or the AC cord is damaged, the unit 
does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

15. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or halogen light may damage 

the image sensor.

16. Keep the sensor-range caps out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.
17. Unplug this unit from power outlets if it emits smoke, an abnormal 

smell or makes unusual noise. These conditions can cause fire or 
electric shock. Confirm that smoke has stopped and contact an 
authorized service center.

18. The camera features a splash-resistant body, but it is not waterproof.
19. The AC adaptor, the AC adaptor cord, the AC cord, and the power 

transfer unit are not splash resistant, and are intended for indoor use 
only.

20. When connecting the cable, waterproof the cable using the included 

right-angle joint, foam strip and self bonding tape.

21. When installing cables through the ground, do not connect cables 

under the ground. Install cables through a conduit to protect them from 
water.

CAUTION:

The camera of this unit utilizes LED lights.
Do not look directly at the LED lights for long periods of time, as this 
can cause weakened eyesight.

Do not install the camera where the temperature is less than -20

C. Allow 10 cm clearance around the unit for proper 

ventilation. Avoid excessive smoke, dust, mechanical vibration, shock, or 
direct sunlight.

Routine care:

Wipe the unit with a soft cloth. Do not use benzine, thinner, or any abrasive 
powder.
When you leave the unit unused for a long period of time, disconnect the 
plug of the AC cord from the outlet.

If you have any problems:

Consult an authorized service center.

CAUTION:

Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible 
for compliance could void the user's authority to operate this device.

System Requirements

Your PC and network must meet the following technical specifications in 
order for the camera to function properly.

*1 What is IPv6?

• IPv6 is short for “Internet Protocol Version 6”.
• IPv6 was created to provide the additional IP addresses that will be 

needed as the Internet continues to expand.

• IPv6 is expected to gradually replace IPv4, with the 2 coexisting for a 

number of years during a transition period.

• Though most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) do not yet support IPv6, 

many local networks already use it. When your ISP supports IPv6, your 
Panasonic Network Camera will be ready!
