2.6.1.3 Idle Current Reduction Set Up Using Switch S1
Definition
The Idle Current Reduction (ICR) function reduces the phase
current at times when the motor motion is commanded. Current
to both windings is reduced to one-half nominal value.
This function requires approximately one second without a step
input before reducing power. Current is maintained at this level
until a step pulse is received. Then the drive returns the phase
currents to the previously set value and the step occurs.
Note: When ICR is enabled, the holding torque generated by the
motor is reduced by approximately 50%.
Benefits
The ICR function:
Reduces motor and drive heating during stand-by operation.
Reduces 5345/5445 power dissipation.
