Maintenance and storage
Maintenance of the earth auger
1.
The gear box has been lubricated with 118 ml of grease from the factory. It is
recommended that the gear box is disassembled once a year for its condition to be
inspected. Grease must only be applied if the level has fallen below the top of the
gears. DO NOT OVERFILL!
2.
Keep all screws, nuts and bolts well-tightened.
3.
If the earth auger is to be used in cold weather, store it in cold surroundings. Harmful
condensation can build up if the earth auger is moved from warm surroundings to be
used in cold surroundings.
4.
If the performance of the earth auger decreases, turn it off and remove the spark plug
lead. Carefully inspect the cutting edge of blade for any signs of wear. If blades show
signs of wear, they need to be sharpened or replaced.
Maintenance of the motor
Cooling fins:
Cooling fins, the air intake and connections must be kept free of any
type of deposits. Check before every start.
Air filter:
Never use the equipment without a correctly fitted air filter. If it is run
without an air filter, this will result in rapid wear and the motor may break. The air
filter should be inspected every three months or after 20 operating hours. The filter
will need to be cleaned daily in very dusty surroundings:
The air filter is cleaned as follows:
1.
Wash the filter with soap and warm water until dirt and deposits are removed. Only
press the filter, never twist it.
2.
Rinse the filter in warm water until the soap and dirt is removed.
3.
Dry the filter by wrapping it in a clean, dry cloth and press on it until it is dry.
4.
Apply oil to the whole filter.
5.
Remove surplus oil.
6.
Replace the filter.
