Health And Safety
This section gives important health and safety information which must be read, understood, and
observed by all persons who install, service and repair the Cypher SPM.
2.1 Warning symbols on the Cypher SPM
Symbol
Meaning
Caution, risk of danger.
Potential hazard present. Consult product documentation for any actions that
may have to be taken to avoid injury.
Caution, risk of electric shock.
Hazardous voltages present that have the potential to cause shock, burns or
death. Disconnect power before servicing.
Caution, radiation hazard.
Potential exposure to ionizing radiation exists.
2.2 General safety precautions
To avoid fire hazard and risk of electric shock:

Do not use the equipment if any cable is damaged.
l
Do not operate with suspected damage or failure to the equipment.
l
Do not use a supply voltage that is outside the specified range.
l
Do not operate the equipment with the covers removed.
l
Do not operate in damp or wet conditions.
l
Do not immerse in liquids.
l
Do not use or store in corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
l
Do not operate outside the specified temperature range.
l
Provide proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
2.3 Instrument weight
The Cypher instrument is made of many heavy metal parts. Be prepared to have two people on
hand whenever lifting of the empty enclosure is required.
