FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Secure and fasten all softgoods. Ensure the patella remains exposed and that the medial and
lateral hinges are aligned just above mid-patella.
2. To determine brace length, position the hinge pivot center slightly above the knee joint midline.
3. To increase length of the strut, rotate length adjustment lever one-half turn (180 degrees) to the
unlocked position.
4. Position and alignment marks are provided on the metal strut. When desired side strut length has
been achieved, rotate length adjustment lever back to the locked position. Strut is preset at 23”
(58 cm). Do this adjustment for both hinges. To decrease length of strut, the extension bars may
be completely removed to minimize length to 17” (43 cm). If extension bars are removed on cool
version brace replace the pad on the adjacent strut D-ring with cool softgood and strap.
5. After length is determined, trim softgood padding as necessary. Cool softgoods should not be
trimmed.
6. Fasten buckles and adjust strap length, starting with the two straps closest to the knee. Straps
may be trimmed if necessary. If straps are trimmed, secure straps using supplied hooks (I).
7. Apply anti-migration (gastroc/calf) strap (J) as required (optional).
8. To adjust range of motion, press the flexion or extension button and rotate until the desired
degree of flexion or extension appears through the indicator window.
9. To set the hinge lock, determine the desired lock angle. Align the setting arrow on the hinge to the
appropriate angle as marked on the lower side bar sleeve. Slide the drop lock button to secure the
angle of the hinge.
10. To enforce compliance, insert supplied ROM locks (H) into the holes in the flexion and extension
buttons to limit range of motion adjustment.
11. The side bars may be bent to fit individual anatomy. Side bars must be bent with final length
adjustments completed and with metal struts installed in the plastic sleeves. Bend with bending
irons.
12. To remove the brace, release buckles and open the foam pads. The brace can then be removed
and reapplied as a single unit.
