Resetting the Server
It is unnecessary to power the server off and on to reset the server because a reset maintains
host power but causes the processors to reinitialize. During the reset process, the server retains
some register information. This is important in case of a system host panic, as error information
might be available upon system recovery.
Caution -
Possible Data Loss.
Resetting the server causes any unsaved data on the server to be
lost.
Reset the Server Using Oracle ILOM
1.
Log in to the Oracle ILOM web interface or command-line interface (CLI) using an
account with admin (a) role privileges.
2.
To reset the server:
■
From the web interface:
a.
In the left pane, click Host Management → Power Control, and select
Reset
from the Select Action list box.
b.
Click
Save
and click
OK
to reset the server.
■
From the CLI :
a.
Type the following command:
->
reset /System
b.
When prompted, type
y
to confirm:
Are you sure you want to reset /System (y/n)?
y
