Remove a CMOD
■
Both fan frames must be installed.
For the dual 4-socket server configuration:
■
System module 0 (SMOD0) System A and SMOD1 System B must be installed.
■
CPU modules (CMODs) must be installed in slots 0-7.
■
DPCC slots 0-3 and DPCC slots 4-7 must be installed and are active.
■
All eight fan modules (FMs) must be installed. All FMs are active in the dual 4-socket
configuration.
■
Both fan frames must be installed.
For the 8-socket server configuration:
■
System module 0 (SMOD0) System A and SMOD1 System B must be installed.
■
CPU modules (CMODs) must be installed in slots 0-7.
■
DPCC slots 0-7 must be installed and are active.
■
All eight fan modules (FMs) must be installed and all FMs are active.
■
Both fan frames must be installed.
Note -
During Oracle Server X7-8 reconfiguration, administrators will need to manually clear
all existing faults before an 4-socket to 8-socket mode change.
Remove a CMOD
You need to remove the CMOD to service it or its internal components.
1.
Prepare the server for service. Choose one of the following methods:
■
Prepare the server for warm service.
■
Prepare the server for cold service.

“Preparing the Server for Component Replacement” on page 101
2.
Identify which group of fan modules (left or right) to remove to access the
CMOD.
For CMODs 0-3 access remove the left FM group. For CMODs 4-7 access remove the right FM
group. In a four-CMOD configured server, remove the left FM group.
