4.16.2 Face turning and recessing
In the facing operation, the tool feeds per-
pendicular to the axis of rotation of the
workpiece. Feed is done manually, using
the cross-slide hand wheel. The infeed for
cut depth is made with the top slide or
lathe saddle.

4.16.3 Fixing the lathe saddle
The cutting force produced during facing, recessing or slicing processes may displace the lathe
saddle.
Secure the lathe saddle using the tightening screw.
4.16.4 Tailstock
The tailstock quill is used to hold the tools (bits, centres, etc.)
Clamp the required tool into the quill of the tailstock.
Use the scale on the sleeve to re-adjust and / or adjust the tool.
Clamp the quill with the clamping lever.
Use the hand wheel to move the sleeve back and forth.

Manual movements
The engaging lever for thread-cutting on apron must be in the horizontal position.
Longitudinal movement is executed with the hand wheel situated on the apron.
Transversal movement is executed with the hand wheel situated on the cross slide.
With these movements neither the change gear bar nor the shift gear operate.

The drive of the feed rod is switched off as soon as the stop is contacted.
