10. Install a 7/16” hex nut and washer over the mounting
post. Tighten until the board is firmly seated but do not
overtighten.
11. Locate the low voltage power cord, and plug into the
MEM as shown. Allow the other end of the cord to
hang loose temporarily.
12. Ground the MEM by installing an additional ground
strap from the post to the main SWE ground post.
Installing the UPS and Power Cable
The FiberPoint MEM is powered via an internal DC power
supply. The UPS with Battery Back-up will provide the
power source for the MEM.
1.
Open the battery compartment of the UPS and remove
the battery.
NOTE: The UPS is designed for indoor installation
and should be installed in a location with ade-
quate airflow.
2.
Mount any approved UPS in the SWE. Use thread
forming screws to secure the UPS chassis to the
SWE, using the rear housing as a template to mark the
hole locations. Again, ensure that the screws are not
too long.
3.
Using the keyholes as a template, drill holes for (2) two
8-32 pan head screws (not provided).
NOTE: Certain UPS manufacturers may provide a
template as part of the assembly.
4.
Insert a screw into each hole, leaving 3/16” (.48 cm) of
the screw protruding from the SWE.
5.
Align the key slots on the bottom of the UPS with the
screws and slide the unit down into place.
NOTE: If the UPS appears to be too loose, remove the
unit and tighten the screws slightly to allow a
more snug fit.
6.
Locate the battery and attach the two battery lead
wires to the battery. (Red to red post, black to black).
7.
Carefully place the battery into the UPS, making sure
the battery leads remain tightly connected.

IMPORTANT
IMPORTANT: The battery charges when it is connected
to the AC Power. Typically, four hours are
needed to fully charge the battery when
the UPS is first put into service. UPS
runtime will be reduced until the battery is
fully charged.
Use only a rechargeable sealed lead
acid battery.
