Chapter 4 Basic operations
4.2
Attaching the hook assembly (IV8635X1
only)
Insert the hook assembly from the channel opening at the scope’s distal end as
described below.
WARNING
•
Be careful in handling the hook assembly so as not to avoid contact with your eye.
•
Do not insert the hook assembly when the light source is on.
•
Use the hook assembly only where specified in the inspection manual. Never attempt to use
the hook assembly when there is a risk of a dropped hook damaging the object being
inspected. Do not use the hook assembly for sites not specified in the inspection manual. If
no inspection manual is provided, do not use the hook assembly. If the hook gets caught
inside the object, you may not be able to withdraw the scope or the hook may fall off inside
the object.
CAUTION
•
Before inspection, read the appropriate inspection manual.
•
Do not insert anything into the channel other than the tools recommended by OLYMPUS.
1
Loosen the chuck screw on the channel port so that the hook
assembly can be passed through it.
2
Straighten the scope’s insertion tube as much as possible.
3
While holding the scope near the distal end, gently insert the hook
assembly’s proximal end into the channel opening at the scope’s
distal end.
CAUTION
•
Be sure to insert the hook assembly from the distal end of the scope. Do not attempt to insert
it from the channel port. This may damage the scope and hook assembly.
•
Wipe the dirt, oil, water or any other sticky substance from the hook assembly before
insertion.
•
Do not forcibly insert the hook assembly into the scope if strong resistance is encountered.
4
Insert the hook assembly until the distal hook rests against the
distal end of the scope in the retracted position.
