2nd image transfer roller cleaning
• In order to remove the remaining toner on the 2nd image transfer roller, -/+ (DC) charge
is applied alternately to transfer the remaining toner on the 2nd image transfer roller to
the transfer belt.
(The number of times that electrical charge is applied to the 2nd image transfer roller is
different depending on each situation.)
• The cleaning blade then scrapes off the toner on the surface of the transfer belt.
A. Operation timing
• Under the following situations, the 2nd image transfer cleaning is carried out.
During a print job, the print counter reaches a specified value.
At the completion of a print job, the print counter reaches a specified value.
When a door is closed after handling paper jam or other errors that caused the unsuc-
cessful completion of a print job.
During a print job or at the completion of a print job, the 2nd image transfer cleaning
operation is interrupted.
At the start of a print job
When the 2nd image transfer ATVC control is being carried out.
