Tests and checks (figs. 32, 33, 34)
Once the pipe connections have been made, carry out a check to test that the cooling circuit is perfectly sealed.
To perform the operations described below, a specific pressure gauge for R410A must be used together with a vacuum pump with
a minimum flow rate of 40 l/min (fig. 32):
1
Make sure that the pump down tap is open (fig. 36 ref. A)
2
Undo the cap on the gas supply line service fitting (fig. 33A).
3
Using hoses with a 5/16” fitting, connect the vacuum pump and the pressure gauge to the gas supply line service fitting (fig.
32).
4
Switch on the pump and open the taps of the pressure gauge.
5
Lower the pressure to -101kPa (-755mmHg, -1bar).
6
Continue to maintain the vacuum for at least 1 hour.
7
Close the taps on the pressure gauge and switch off the pump.
8
After 5 minutes, only if the pressure has remained at -101kPa (-755mmHg, -1bar) move on to the operation in point 8.
If the pressure inside the circuit has risen to a value above -101kPa (-755mmHg, - 1bar) it will be necessary to search for the
leak (using a soap solution with the cooling circuit pressurised with nitrogen ~ 30 bar), identify it and repair it, then start again
from point 3.
9
Using a 5mm Allen key open the stem of the liquid valve (fig. 36 ref.B) until it is fully open.
10
Use a 5 mm Allen key to open fully the stem of the gas valve (fig. 36 ref.C).
11
Remove the filler hose connected to the gas pipe service fitting.
12
Replace the cap on the gas pipe service fitting and secure it with an adjustable or open-ended spanner.
13
Replace the caps on the stems of the service, gas and liquid valves and secure them.
14
Fit the insulating shells (fig. 34)
15
Fit the taps cover (fig. 3 ref. 16)

UNICO BOILER MASTER
2.2.9
HYDRAULIC CONNECTION (fig. 10)
Storage water heaters for domestic and similar use must be connected to the water supply by means of a water safety unit,
as required by the local laws in force. The design, manufacture and operation of the safety unit must conform to EUROPEAN
STANDARD UNI EN 1487:2002 or to the equivalent standards in force.
THE WATER SAFETY UNIT must comprise at least:
•
a stop cock
•
a non-return valve
•
non-return valve control device
•
a safety valve
•
a water pressure cut-off device
The above accessories are necessary for the boiler to operate safely.
The maximum working pressure must be 0.3 MPa (3 bar)
While the water is being heated, it is normal for the device to drip, as this is due to the expansion of the volume of water inside the appliance.
For this reason the valve drain MUST BE CONNECTED to one of the house drain pipes (see instruction booklet under ‘Installation procedure
– Water connection’)
Connect the water inlet (fig. 4 ref. 10) and outlet (fig. 4 ref. 11) of the UNICO BOILER WALL with hoses and fittings that will withstand
not only the working pressure but also the hot water temperatures, which can regularly reach and exceed 80°C. Therefore, do not use materials
that cannot withstand such high temperatures.
The water inlet to the appliance is marked by a blue collar and a “T” shaped fitting. Attach on one side of the “T” shaped fitting a tap to empty
out the water heater, and on the other side the safety valve.
Connect the latter of these to the main water supply pipe by means of hoses. Provide also a water drain pipe connected to the outlet, in the
event of the drain tap being opened.
It is normal for the safety valve to drip during the water heating phase; it is therefore always advisable to connect the drain open to the
atmosphere, with a drain pipe fitted on a continual slope downwards and in a place without any condensation.
If the supply pressure is close to the calibration values of the valve, a pressure reducer must be fitted as far away as possible from the appliance.
2.2.10
UNICO BOILER WALL running tests and troubleshooting (fig.43)
The unit can perform a brief diagnosis cycle to check the normal working operation of the internal components.
To activate the function proceed as follows:
- supply the unit with power by plugging it into the wall socket or operating the system isolation switch;
- make sure the appliance is in standby mode (LCD display on the console Off);
