The heat transfer fluid included in the delivery package is based on 1.2 propylene
glycol and water. The solution contains anti-corrosion additives and is especially
suitable for applications in solar system generating high temperatures such as vacuum
tube collectors.
Propylene glycol is used in pharmaceutics, food, cosmetics, body care products,
flavours and pet food. Propylene glycol is nonvolatile but can be mixed with water.
Propylene glycol is not affecting water organisms and easily biodegradable. However,
the solution must be disposed of in a responsible way regarding all local environmental
and safety regulations.
Although the solution is not classified as hazardous substance according to the EC
Directive, it must be disposed of in a certain way. The safety data sheet and technical
information published by the EC is available on request. We recommend contacting your
local authorities to check whether the solution is accepted by your hazardous waste
depot.
There is a number of companies specialized on the disposal of hazardous material
including propylene glycol. A list of these companies is also available on request.

Servicing
and maintenance
22.0
It is recommended that the solar system is serviced annually by a qualified engineer and
immediately, if the system shows evidence of having lost pressure or discharged liquid at
the pressure relief valve. The anti-freeze fluid must be replaced after 7 years.
A qualified engineer should service the system at the recommended intervals.
In addition, the user must check the system pressure at regular intervals. See page 48
for the maintenance form. A visual inspection of the pressure gauge is required to check
whether the system pressure meets the required level.
