OCTTO PROFESSIONAL-GRADE
HANDLEBAR TAPE
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
ENGLISH (ANGLAIS)
__
1. Position Levers
on Handlebars.
If necessary, go for
a test-ride without
tape to make sure
the levers are in
the
desired
position.
TIP:
Generally, the overlap on the wrap should be
about 50% of the tape-width. For a thicker grip,
overlap more. For a thinner grip, overlap less.
TIP:
Tape with a moderate tension, the tape will
hold better. For a thicker grip, use a slightly lower
tension. For a thinner grip, use a slightly higher
tension.
CAUTION: If the tension is too high, the tape could
be torn during installation. If the tension is too
low, the tape could unravel while riding.
__2. Apply the short
piece of bar-tape
across the band-
clamp of the
brake-lever.
__3. Insert one end
of the tape into the
end of the bar at
the 12 o'clock
position.
Approximately one
thumb's-length (2.5
cm / 1") .
__5. Continue
wrapping the tape
inwards
from the
end up towards
the brake lever.
__6. Make sure the
tape is touching or
slightly over-
lapping the lever-
blade,
as you start
to wrap around the
lever-mount.
__7. Make sure that the
direction of wrap is
inwards towards the
rider as you approach
the stem.
TIP:
Under the rubber lever-
hood, overlap 80~90% for
extra cushioning.
__8.
At the desired
ending point, wrap
one-extra time
around the bar then
make a fore-aft mark
on the tape for
cutting.
Unwrap the extra
tape and
cut with a
scissors to make a
straight cut.
__9. Hold the bar-
tape end in position
with some black
PVC -tape
(electrical-tape)
(not
included)
__10. Apply the
finishing tape with
the OCTTO logo

cosmetic-cover of the
OCTTO end-plug.

Use a coin to

`
__15. Repeat Steps 1. ~ 14. for opposite side.
CAUTION:
__16. Test-ride and check for any looseness or

__4. Make a 90
degree fold
_inwards_ as the
tape exits the bar.
The first wrap
should overlap the
end about 1/2 of
tape-width.
This will leave some material for the plug to push
against (Step 12.)).
(This will cosmetically fill the gap as the tape
wraps around the lever-blade (Step 6.)).
TIP:
Position the lever-hood so that there is a
smooth transition from the bar-top to the lever-
hood.
