Letting DSLR control ISO settings in Tv mode (no flash, or flash used as fill only)
In some instances, it is necessary to completely disable or greatly reduce
the output of the flash. This is often the case when the natural
environment does not allow flash to be bounced off of it, or when the use
of a reflector is impossible, or when there is enough natural light in the
environment to allow great exposure.
In this case, from “Camera Behavior” window, check the “Auto” option,
select a shutter speed you believe will be appropriate (we recommend a
setting between 1/40 – 1/25 depending on ambient light), and click OK.
Here, Exposure Compensation field can be very useful. For instance, you
can have the flash set to a low power as a fill light, and set the EC to -1 or
a small value like that getting properly exposed faces, as well as the
background.
Note, you can still use the flash to provide additional fill light, but be
careful not to over-expose the images.
Head Actuation Range
In some cases, it may be needed to limit OCCO’s head actuation (motion) range. For example, if a
backdrop is in uses, it may be nice to prevent the robot from taking pictures outside the surface area of
the backdrop.
Another important case could be a green screen scenario. A physical green canvas has a limited size, and
it is often very necessary to prevent OCCO from taking pictures of people who are not fully “inside” the
green screen area.
This can be easily accomplished by playing with “Head Actuation Range” knobs on the main screen.
Values change from 0 (no actuation allowed in a chosen direction) to 100% - which is a maximum
hardware motion limit for a given axis. Limits can be set for up, down, left and right directions
independently.
